Disco Pop
Getting to party with our friends is fun
and fulfilling because you get to shake your booty to the
latest beats and tunes. However, that fun night will not be
complete without the booty-shaking tunes that
would actually make your booty shake. One genre of music
that certainly makes this happen is known as disco
pop. Disco pop music is strongly dance-oriented and was
popularized by the American, African, LGBT (lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transsexual people) and Hispanic communities in
the United States in the late 1960s and through the
'70's.
Disco is not just a
typical music genre. It is considered to be a lifestyle - a
"cult", or a mood. It is characterized by a sturdy rhythm, an
energetic beat suggestive of the old Motown sound accompanied
by high pitched vocals. It paved the way for new developments
in the music industry such as the new wave music movement and
various rock bands like XYZ, The Tubes and the
Journey.
The era of disco pop
music was dominated by several music artists. The Bee
Gees were indeed a very famous group that popularized the
disco movement in the 1970s. Other artists that made a mark in
the disco pop era include Barry White and Donna Summers,
bands like Abba, Village People, and Earth, Wind and Fire.
These artists were famous for creating dance hits that set
disco pop apart from other music genres and into its own
universe of style, fashion, and night clubs.
